Fans take it in the neck, again

This article explains why according to the NCAA, the Cincinnati Bearcats didn't go into a very big bowl. It tells us that the fans are the problem with Cincinnati not getting into any big bowls. they say that we do not have a big enough fan turnout for the big bowl games such as the International Bowl which we all know is just the greatest thing in the world. But the truth is that no fan is going to go and drive over 400 miles to Louisiana so they can watch the Bearcats three days before Christmas. In my opinion i don't think that the fan base should have anything to do with what kind of a bowl the team gets into. I also think that the fans for UC are very good fans and that they don't need to drive over 400 miles to prove that.

I agree with Evan, the amount or intensity of fans should have nothing to do with the bowl selection process. If the NCAA wants UC to have a bigger and better fan base, then they need to let them into bigger and better bowl games. Obviously, they can't just put us in a higher bowl so we can get more fans excited, therefore fans should be left out of the selection process.

I don't think Cincinnati deserves to be in a big bowl game in the first place. Cincinnati has never been a good football and for the first time in forever they have a DECENT year and now all of a sudden people want to jump the bandwagon. The fan excuse sounds like a second rate excuse to me. It sounds like the UC fn base is just trying to think of ways to make themselves feel better about they're average football team.

Evan i would have to disagree withyou on this topic. I think how your fan base travels should effect what bowl game you get into. The papajohns.com bowl didn't show UC competition that was up to par but Southern Mississippi's match The Cincinnati fans' intesity. Could you imagine how embarrassing it would be for UC to be in a New Years Day bowl and only bring 15,000 fans out? That would not only being degrading to the bowl game, but the University as a whole.
